Rytis Valunas

General Counsel | Klaipedos Nafta (KN)

Rytis Valunas is General Counsel at Klaipedos Nafta (KN), a state-controlled oil and LNG terminals services company. From 2012-2015 Valunas led the legal team in charge of Lithuania’s LNG Terminal Project. Before joining KN he worked as an attorney at law specializing in business dispute resolution. He has also lectured on international trade law and international law at the Mykolas Romeris University. He has also interned at the European Commission, Cabinet of Commissioner for Customs, Taxation and Anti-Fraud, mostly working on international trade related aspects, and the Embassy of Lithuania to the United States, acting as an energy policy adviser. 

Valunas graduated from the Mykolas Romeris University with a Bachelor Degree in Law. He also holds a Master degree in International Law from the Mykolas Romeris University and Ghent University, and an LL.M. degree with a focus on international energy policy and international trade law from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He has also studied at Harvard Law School and Lund University. In 2015 Valunas received “Lithuania’s Lawyer of the Year Award” by the In-house Counsels Association.
